Frozen in Sleep

from From Memorial Crossing by Pumajaw

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Our first album together and still one of the best, this was recorded in 2000, in a squatted school in Tottenham, London, which features on the cover. The image features an abandoned grand piano which was eventually rebuilt, but only after we played around with its insides a bit first. Includes deconstructed versions of songs by Tom Waits and Angelo Badalamenti. Beautiful analogue photos taken and printed by Arabella Anderson.

about

Frozen in Sleep is built around a loop taken from Artie Shaw's classic 'Nightmare', which was later used in the film 'The Aviator'.

lyrics

Summer left like an old friend, lost when the clocks changed, only dark days drawing in now. Springtime, trapped in her slumbers, paralysed in her chrysalis, why don't the seasons change any more?
Here, where my breath hangs in the air and the sun is always low, winter clings on to me, winter gripping onto me now.
Frozen, frozen in sleep, till you hold me close again and the sun filters through.
